Group therapy for children and teens at Root and Blossom offers a unique and dynamic environment where young individuals can navigate their emotions, behaviors, and social skills within a supportive peer setting. Our specialized approach focuses on play and expressive arts-based groups, allowing participants to express themselves creatively and explore personal issues in a less conventional, more engaging way.

Through games, structured activities, psychoeducation, collaborative problem-solving, and guided peer practice, children will explore how different brains communicate, connect, manage emotions, and experience the social world. Group members will build skills around expressing needs, understanding different perspectives, working through misunderstandings, handling unexpected changes, solving problems with peers, managing frustration, and finding strategies that help them participate more comfortably in friendships and group settings.
An important part of the group will also be helping children develop a positive and affirming understanding of neurodivergence. Children will have opportunities to identify their own strengths, needs, preferences, and ways of connecting with others while learning that there is no single “right” way to communicate or be social.
The goal is not to teach children to mask, perform neurotypical social behavior, or change who they are. Instead, the group will help children better understand themselves and others, build confidence, strengthen self-advocacy, and develop tools for creating relationships that feel safe, meaningful, and genuine.
This group may be a good fit for children with ADHD, autism, anxiety, social anxiety, or other differences that impact social confidence, self-understanding, or peer relationships.
Group therapy for parents and caregivers at Root and Blossom offers a supportive community where individuals can share their experiences, challenges, and successes in parenting. Understanding the intricate and demanding nature being a modern parent, our group and workshop offerings focus on providing participants with better understanding of themselves and their children, practical tools and strategies, and emotional support within a collaborative group environment.
