They/Them

MA
Rowan earned their Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Mercer University and their Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Georgia. Rowan approaches counseling from a narrative therapy perspective, empowering clients to explore and rewrite their stories in ways that promote healing, resilience, and growth. They strive to create a counseling space where identities are celebrated, humor is welcomed, and creativity thrives. Using a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach, Rowan emphasizes client autonomy while recognizing the unique experiences and abilities each person brings to therapy. Treatment is thoughtfully tailored to each client's interests, goals, and needs. Rowan frequently incorporates expressive arts, narrative therapy, play therapy techniques, and role-playing game (RPG)-based interventions to create engaging, meaningful therapeutic experiences for clients of all ages. They view counseling as an opportunity to walk alongside clients as they discover their strengths, make sense of their experiences, and develop stories that reflect hope, empowerment, and possibility. Rowan especially enjoys working with children and their families, adolescents, and young adults. They believe that meaningful progress with children happens through collaboration and strive to actively involve parents and caregivers in the therapeutic process whenever appropriate. By partnering with families, Rowan helps caregivers better understand their child's strengths, build skills that support growth outside of sessions, and create a consistent, supportive environment that reinforces therapeutic progress. Rowan has experience supporting clients as they navigate personal and gender identity development, neurodivergence, trauma, anxiety, depression, changes in family structure, LGBTQIAP+ identities, and major life transitions. They believe every client possesses innate strengths that can serve as a foundation for healing and growth, and they aim to foster a therapeutic environment where clients feel safe to explore life's challenges with curiosity and compassion. Rowan has received training through the Narrative Therapy Centre in the Double-Storied approach to addressing trauma in adolescents and young adults. Rowan is under the supervision of Chelsea Harris, MS, ATR-BC, LPC, CPCS.
