Shannon is a Registered Art Therapist (ATR 15-087) with over 10 years experience working
with children, adolescents, and adults navigating the challenges that come with mental health
diagnoses, anxiety, depression, and grief. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts at Cazenovia
College, and her Master of Art with a Major in Creative Arts Therapy at Hofstra University. She
has completed Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) and is certified in Exposure
and Response Prevention (ERP). Shannon utilizes various art materials and modalities to
encourage creative expression and self exploration. As an art therapist, Shannon believes in
providing a safe, non judgmental space for clients to express themselves through color, shape,
and line, when words alone may be too difficult. Using a child centered, collaborative approach,
she aims to create an environment to assist clients in developing healthy coping skills, building
self confidence, and improving emotional regulation. No artistic skills are required, only a desire
to be creative and curious.
